Vertice Society の歴史
創設

2017年、Vertice Society は、創設者であり主任コンサルタントである Scott Perry による思いがけない発見から始まりました。ある日、長年の生徒が Perry 氏に「自分と同じレベルで話せる生徒たちと一緒に、上級英語クラスを作ってほしい」と依頼しました。その生徒は20年以上海外で生活し、日常的に英語を使用しており、あとは発音を完璧にしたいと考えていました。Perry 氏は、同レベルの生徒が数名いると考え快諾しましたが、記録を確認したところ、該当する生徒は全員すでに「卒業」していることに気づきました。

退学したのではなく、完全に「修了」していたのです。彼らはすでにバイリンガルになっており、完璧な発音、リスニング、ライティング、そして文化的理解力を備えていました。
そのとき初めて Perry 氏は、自身の生徒たちが日本の「一生終わらない英語学習の循環」から抜け出したことを実感しました。

彼らは多くの人が不可能だと思っていたことを成し遂げたのです。彼らは本当に「英語を完成させた」存在でした。

Vertice Society の誕生

この気づきが、Vertice Society の設立につながりました。それは、英語を母語並みに使いこなす日本のトップ・コミュニケーターたちのためのネットワークです。

Perry 氏は、自身の生徒たちが日本の英語基準をはるかに超えていることを理解しました。
高い TOEIC スコアを持つ人々とは異なり、彼らはネイティブ・アメリカンと同等の発音・流暢さ・文化的感覚を持ち、世界中のネイティブスピーカーに完全に理解されるレベルに達していました。



Perry 氏は、彼らを称え支援するために Vertice Society を設立し、英語圏の HR マガジンや国際的な専門ネットワークを通じて、その成果を世界に発信しました。
目的は、日本にも「ネイティブのように話し、聞き、考える」特別な人材が存在することを世界に示すことでした。
しかも彼らは、ネイティブとは異なり「真のバイリンガル」であるという強みを持っていました。当初の Society のメンバーシップはすべて無料でした。

Perry 氏は、生徒を称えるために自身の資金で運営を行い、機会と認知の場を提供しました。
さらに、この取り組みを支えるために Vertice Academy を設立し、新しい学生が同じレベルに到達できるよう訓練する仕組みを整えました。

発展と再構築

しかし、その後も日本国内では Society の意義が十分に理解されず、一般的な関心は限定的でした。多くの人々はそのレベルの英語運用力を想像できず、優秀な卒業生でさえ、期待されたほどの参加を見せませんでした。

Vertice が拡大するにつれ、パートナー、投資家、アドバイザーが加わり、見直しが行われました。
その結果、Society は本来の目的 ― 卓越性と継承を体現する、意欲的で高学歴な個人のためのプライベートコミュニティ ― に再焦点を当てる必要があると判断されました。アドバイザリーボードは、Society の中でも特に優秀なメンバーが、東京大学、慶應義塾大学、京都大学、早稲田大学などの卒業生、また Stanford、Harvard、Oxford などの世界的名門校の出身者であることを確認しました。
そのため Vertice は、より選ばれた人々のための招待制組織へと進化すべきだと結論づけました。

こうして、2025年、The New Vertice Society が正式に誕生しました。それは日本における英語コミュニケーターの上位2％を代表する存在であり、学術的・職業的に顕著な功績を持つ名誉会員も含まれています。

現在

新しい基準にまだ達していない学生や卒業生は、Vertice の原点である Scott Perry Academy で引き続き学習を続けています。
彼らは Vertice レベルのトレーニングの一部を受けながら、努力と成果によって将来的に名誉会員として推薦または招待される可能性があります。

毎年、優秀な貢献を認められた2〜3名が名誉会員として選出されます。

The History of the Vertice Society
Founding

Founded in 2017, the Vertice Society began with an unexpected discovery by Scott Perry, the founder and chief consultant of the Vertice Society.

One day, a long-time student approached Mr. Perry with a request — to create an advanced English class with students who could match her level.

She had lived abroad for over twenty years, used English daily, and only wished to perfect her pronunciation.  Mr. Perry agreed, believing he had several students capable of meeting that standard. However, when he reviewed his records, he realized that all of them had already graduated — not because they had quit, but because they had finished. They had become bilingual — fluent with perfect pronunciation, listening, writing, and cultural understanding.

For the first time, Mr. Perry realized his students had escaped Japan’s lifelong cycle of endless English study. They had achieved what many believed to be impossible — they had truly completed English.

Birth of the Vertice Society

This realization led to the creation of the Vertice Society — a network for Japan’s top communicators who had achieved near-native mastery of English. Mr. Perry recognized that his students were far beyond Japan’s conventional English standards.

Unlike those with high TOEIC scores, these individuals spoke with native American pronunciation, fluency, and cultural awareness — fully understandable to native speakers worldwide. Mr. Perry established Vertice Society to honor and support them, promoting their achievements internationally through English-language HR magazines and professional networks.

The goal was to show the world that Japan had individuals who spoke, listened, and thought like native speakers — with the added strength of true bilingual ability. Membership in this original Society was completely free.

Mr. Perry personally financed the organization to honor his students and provide recognition and opportunity.
To sustain this mission, he also founded the Vertice Academy, enabling new students to train toward the same level of excellence.

Growth and Reformation

Despite these efforts, public understanding of the Society’s purpose remained limited.  Many in Japan could not imagine achieving such fluency, and even top graduates participated less than expected.

As Vertice expanded, it gained partners, investors, and advisors.
After careful review, it became clear that the Society needed to refocus on its original purpose — to form a private community of ambitious, accomplished, and highly educated individuals who embody excellence and legacy.

The Board of Advisors found that many of the Society’s strongest members were graduates of The University of Tokyo, Keio University, Kyoto University, and Waseda University, along with alumni of global institutions such as Stanford, Harvard, and Oxford.
It was therefore determined that Vertice must evolve into an elite, invitation-only society reserved for individuals of both accomplishment and aspiration.

Thus, in 2025, The New Vertice Society was officially established — representing the top 2% of English communicators in Japan, including honorary members recognized for exceptional academic and professional achievements.

Today

Students and graduates who have not yet reached the new standards continue their studies at the Scott Perry Academy, the original foundation from which most Vertice members began. They receive portions of Vertice-level training and, through dedication and performance, may later be recommended or invited to join the Society as Honorary Members.

Each year, two to three honorary members are selected in recognition of excellence and contribution.
